"Independence Day" or also known as "Araw ng Kalayaan" is one of the most historical event here in the Philippines. It is a considered as a holiday during the 12th day of June. This is to celebrate the country's independence from the colonization of the Spanish govern for almost more than three centuries.
We all know that June 12 is considered as a holiday nationwide. Therefore, the government offices, schools and are closed in order for us to celebrate as a whole nation. Other establishments are also included in cooperation with the remarkable display of our National flag in all public places, houses and other private buildings.
But amidst of all of these actions, do Filipinos really know what they are celebrating for?
We Filipinos must always remember that behind this freedom and democracy that we have right now are the hard works, sacrifices, and lives of our dear Filipinos. Filipinos who fought for our country amidst of all the battles that they barely won.
We must all keep in our minds that Independence Day is not only a holiday for us to celebrate but it is a time in which we must reflect and celebrate wholeheartedly the real essence of our country's declaration of independence by reminiscing and honoring our heroes who devoted and sacrificed their own lives to fought for our nation's liberty from cruelty and colonization.
